USA Cycling and Sierra Nevada help BRAC programs through Cyclo-cross Nationals
Colorado Springs, Colo. (February 5, 2014) — USA Cycling, with support from the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado (BRAC), put on one of the most successful Cyclo-cross National Championships earlier this month in Boulder.
In addition to 1,553 unique riders making 2,069 total starts throughout the five-day event, an estimated crowd of 6,000 converged on Valmont Bike Park for the final day of action which featured the elite women's and men's races. The live streaming of the event saw over 43,000 playbacks worldwide on USA Cycling's YouTube channel.
Through USA Cycling's relationship with Sierra Nevada, beer sales at the event helped BRAC raise nearly $5,000 for its local association programs.
"Our involvement in Nationals was a huge success for our organization," said BRAC Outgoing Executive Director Chris McGee. “Thank you to the staff from Sierra Nevada, and all the volunteers who made this possible. The funds from the Sierra Nevada sales will be put toward growing our development programs."
"It was a fantastic weekend of racing," USA Cycling Chief Marketing Officer Rob Borland stated. "Sierra Nevada has been a long term sponsor of USA Cycling and their great beers were a huge hit with the crowd. We’re proud to say that proceeds from sales will be going to fund cycling development in Colorado."
