Three top-ten finishes at Cyclo-cross Worlds

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Jan. 30, 2006) – Three American riders produced top-ten finishes at the Union Cycliste Internationale Cyclo-cross World Championships Jan. 28-29 in Zeddam, Netherlands.

Bjorn Selander (Alan Factory, Hudson, Wis.) brought in the highest American finish with his seventh-place post in the Junior Men’s division. Selander finished the course in 38 minutes, 24.60 seconds.

A 19th-place finish by Danny Summerhill (TIAA-CREF / Centennial, Colo.) and 29th-place finish by Chance Noble (Scary Fast / Camarillo, Calif.) placed the U.S. men fifth overall.

Ann Knapp finished ninth in the Women’s division in a time of 41:45.92. Twenty-fourth- and 25th – place finishes by Rhonda Mazza (Vanilla Bicycle-Sellwood Cycline / Portland, Ore.) and Barbara Howe (Velo Bella / Larkspur, Calif.) placed the American women fifth overall.

Jonathan Page (Cervelo / Northfield, N.H.) placed tenth in the Elite Men’s division in a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, 31.63 seconds. Page qualified for the elite squad based on his top-50 ranking in the UCI standings. The U.S. Elite Men placed eighth overall, also due to 33rd-and 36th-place finishes by Barry Wicks (Kona / Corvallis,Ore.) and Jeremy Powers (Jelly Belly / Niantic, Conn.).

The U.S. men’s U-23 team placed ninth overall in its division.
