Meet the Athlete
As a kid, Andrew was always into action sports and began riding bikes at the age of three to keep up with his older brother. Living in New Hampshire, they soon heard about Highland Mountain Bike Park; the only lift service mountain bike park at the time. Once he took his first mountain bike lesson at Highland, he immediately fell in love with the sport. As the years went on, he was introduced to downhill racing though the Highland Friday Night Race Series, and got hooked. He raced his first regional Eastern States Cup at age eleven. He was amazed by the constant opportunity to improve through competition. Racing gave his riding a purpose. He was no longer just riding his bike. Instead, he was using his bike park days with his brother to improve as much as possible. His brother, Matt, is three years older, and shares the same passion for racing and riding. Throughout all the years of Matt beating Andrew, he gave Andrew something to strive for, and work towards. Andrew owes a great deal of where he is today to his brother, as well as his parents of course. As his love for racing grew, he began to branch out from regional races, and travel to National races. He used every race as a learning opportunity. When he was not satisfied with his result or how he rode, he would go back to the drawing board, back to Highland. 2021 was his first year of World Cup eligibility, and was fortunate enough to race four rounds. This year, he has set bigger goals for himself, and is excited to see where the season takes him. Over the years, he has accomplished some great results like: winning the 2018 National Championships, finishing 2nd at the 2021 National Championships, winning several of the National rounds, and finishing 1st in Pro at multiple regional races, all while still being a junior.
