Meet the Athlete

Until Chloe started high school, she had only done a couple of mountain bike rides with her dad and certainly had never raced. She tried almost every sport as a kid, spending lots of time playing basketball, soccer, softball and skiing. She joined the enormous and very popular mountain bike team at her high school, Boulder High, as a freshman just for a fall activity and fell in love with it right away. She was so fortunate to not only be on such a supportive team but also be surrounded by some of the nation’s best riders. The next spring, she joined Boulder Junior Cycling, a local development program that had everything she could ask for and more. She's raced mountain bikes with them for 3 years now. In 2019, she joined their cyclocross program and after lots of mock races and brutally fast group rides with the team during COVID, she qualified for the 2022 Cyclocross World Championships. She will be focusing on both mountain biking and cyclocross as she heads to Colorado Mesa University in the fall and can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Growing up, how did youth sports, cycling or others, impact who you are today?

As a kid, sports were always part of my life whether it was playing soccer in our basement with my brother or 3v3 basketball tournaments on the weekends. I learned the importance of playing for the joy of it. Each sport I tried pushed me in different and new ways, forcing me to grow and develop. Within youth sport, I met some of the most incredible mentors and friends that are still with me today.

What are your pre-race rituals?

For me, french toast is a pretty common pre race meal and I always warm up with a playlist that I listen to only before races to get me in the right head space.

What is your favorite post-ride snack/meal?
