Meet the Athlete

Scott got started in cycling through his dad. He raced the local cyclocross series and got Scott intro racing BMX at age six. When he was about 9, he started racing cyclocross and XC mountain bikes. Scott has been loving the off-road endurance side of the sport ever since. He did many development trips with USA Cycling when he was a junior in both cyclocross and mountain bike. He went on to race both the cyclocross and mountain bike World Championships in 2018.

Scott recently finished 4 years of collegiate cycling with the Colorado Mesa University where he raced on the mountain bike, cyclocross and road teams. During his time there, he won multiple individual medals and team relay national championships. Currently, he is focused on cyclocross where he races as part of the Blue Competition Cycles team. Since graduating, he has officially relocated from Grand Junction to Boulder, Colorado to be closer to the team. The 2021-22 season was his first year with the team and he had many stand out results. He won his first UCI race at Major Taylor then won both the U23 Pan American and National Championships. The 2022-23 cyclocross season will be his first year as an elite and he hopes to put together strong performances at the World Cups and Nationals.

Growing up, how did youth sports impact who you are today?

I believe sports has helped me stay calm under pressure and taught me how to deal with adversity. I think I am better prepared to take on challenging or stressful situations than most of my peers through my experience in athletics.
