Coach Mentorship Program

USA Cycling’s Coach Mentorship Program aims to increase inclusion and representation in cycling by creating access and opportunities within our coaching community.

Background

USA Cycling believes that sport is inclusive. We are committed to creating a space where people feel welcomed and comfortable participating in cycling, regardless of gender, gender identity, race, class, or any other perceived difference. Cycling is a global sport that benefits from diversity in all ways. However, there are barriers to getting involved in the sport and, as a result, there are underrepresented groups in cycling. USA Cycling wants to be intentional about breaking down barriers to inclusion in cycling.

Purpose

USA Cycling’s Coach Mentorship Program aims to increase inclusion and representation in cycling by creating access and opportunities within our coaching community.

The Program

USAC licensed coaches are invited to voluntarily mentor an aspiring cycling coach from an underrepresented community, supporting them in all things cycling coach related – from becoming a licensed coach to communicating effectively with athletes. In return, USA Cycling will reward the coach mentor with 20 CEUs per calendar year that they are involved in the program (assuming all evidence is submitted).

The Facts

  • Voluntary opportunity for USA Cycling licensed coaches (L3 and above) to mentor the next generation of cycling coaches
  • USA Cycling will make the introduction between interested mentors and mentees after receiving expressed interest
