Peter Moore Earns Fourth Place in the Elite Men’s Points Race at the 2024 Track World Championships

Anders Johnson achieves Team USA's best result in the Elite Men's Individual Pursuit, finishing in eighth place.

On the third day of the 2024 UCI Track World Championships, five Americans took to the track at the Ballerup Super Arena, competing in multiple events. Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah; Chaney Windows and Doors) and Brendan Rhim (Norwich, Vt.; Project Echelon Racing) raced in the Elite Men’s Individual Pursuit, while Peter Moore (Saint Paul, Minn.) competed in the Elite Men’s Points Race. David Domonoske (Palo Alto, Calif.) contested the Elite Men’s Time Trial, and Jennifer Valente (San Diego; Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24) returned to the track to compete in the Elite Women’s Omnium.

 

Elite Men’s Individual Pursuit

Twenty-one athletes competed in the four-kilometer Elite Men’s Individual Pursuit, including Johnson and Rhim. Johnson delivered a solid qualifying performance with a time of 4:08.623, placing him eighth overall. Rhim followed with his strongest ride, finishing in 4:13.169 to secure 12th place. While neither advanced to the finals, both athletes still put down their best times.

Elite Men’s Points Race

Moore delivered a standout performance in the Elite Men’s Points Race. He earned points in sprints three and 15, accumulating a total of 48 points to secure a strong fourth-place finish. He finished just 18 points short of the podium in a very competitive field.

Elite Men’s Time Trial

Domonoske was the lone American in the Elite Men’s 1-Kilometer Time Trial at the 2024 UCI Track World Championships. Clocking a time of 1:02.559, Domonoske maintained an impressive average speed of 57.54 kilometers per hour, securing 20th place overall in the standings.

Elite Women’s Omnium

In today's Omnium, the overall winner was determined by the total points accumulated across the Scratch, Elimination, Tempo, and Points races, requiring a carefully executed strategy to win. Valente, a seasoned Omnium racer, began her day with a 14th place finish in the Scratch Race, earning 14 points, followed by a 10th place result in the Tempo Race, adding 22 points to her total. She then competed in her third race of the day, the Elimination Race, where she stayed in contention until the very end. In a final sprint against Ally Wollaston (NZL), she finished in second place. The final event of the Omnium, the Points Race, decided it all. Valente started with 74 points, while the leaders held just over 100. After a hard race, she finished with 82 points, securing ninth place overall.
