WEEKEND RECAP: Roberts wins BMX Freestyle World Championship with Werner in the CX PanAm Jersey

Team USA comes home with 15 medals after the BMX World Championships and Cyclocross Pan American Championships

BMX Freestyle World Championship

The 2019 UCI BMX Freestyle World Championship brought huge success for the young, Hannah Roberts (Buchanan, Mich.). In addition to her winning the World Championship title, she became the first woman ever to land a 360-tailwhip in competition.

Nick Bruce (Cleveland, Ohio) took home the Bronze Medal in the men’s competition after having put together a solid first run in the finals.

Cyclocross Pan American Championships

At the Cyclocross Pan American Championships in Canada; Americans competed against the world’s best. Kerry Werner (Birdsboro, Penn.) took the top spot of the podium in the men’s competition. With this win, Werner will is in the lead for points and the 2019 Continental Champion. Clara Honsinger (Portland, Ore.) and Rebecca Fahringer (Concord, N.H.) were the top finishers in the women’s elite competition, placing second and third respectively.

Pro CX Update

With the Pan American Games this past weekend, there has been no change with the Pro-CX standings.

Men’s Individual Standings:

  1. Kerry Werner 520 Points
  2. Curtis White 487 Points
  3. Stephan Hyde 320 Points
  4. Gage Hecht 293 Points
  5. Tobin Ortenblad 266 Points

Women’s Individual Standings:

  1. Rebecca Fahringer 485 Points
  2. Caroline Mani 459 Points
  3. Maghalie Rochette 436 Points
  4. Clara Honsinger 392 Points
  5. Sunny Gilbert 280 Points
NoHo CX

Back in the United States, American riders crushed it at the Verge Northampton International Cyclocross event (C2). In both the women and men’s competition, the top finisher stayed the same. Caroline Nolan (Reno, Nev.) and Tobin Ortenblad (Santa Cruz, Calif.) were able to land the top podium spot both days by just a few seconds. The junior men’s races had a little bit more variation in the podium. Jonah Vasquez (Piermont, N.Y.) came out on top for day one and Jaymz Lipinski (Kingston, Mass.) for day two.
