UCI Urban Cycling World Championships: Abu Dhabi, UAE

(November 9-13) – Olympic silver medalist Hannah Roberts captured a historic fourth World Championship title in BMX Freestyle Park on Sunday in Abu Dhabi. Perris Benegas placed 7th and Angie Marino placed 9th in the finals.

On the men’s side, Justin Dowell landed back on the podium in 2nd after winning the event in 2018. 19-year-old Marcus Christopher placed 4th and Daniel Sandoval finished 12th in the finals.

UCI Track Champions League: Mallorca, Spain

(November 12) – US track riders captured four podium spots in the opening round of the 5-round UCI Track Champions League. The elite-level series kicked off in Mallorca, Spain, at the Velòdrom Illes Balears, with four Americans taking part: Olympic gold medalist and world champion Jennifer Valente (Virginia Blue Ridge/TWENTY24), Lily Williams (Human Powered Health), defending men’s Endurance League champion Gavin Hoover (L39ion of Los Angeles), and Pan Am Champion Grant Koontz (Star Track). All four are in the Endurance category.

On the women’s side, Valente took 3rd in Scratch and 2nd in Elimination, while Williams placed 7thin Scratch and 3rd in Elimination, putting them 1st and 3rd overall in league standings.

On the men’s side, Hoover took 2nd in Elimination and Koontz was 5th in Scratch, putting them 7thand 10th in the standings.

Riders compete and score points in either the Sprint or Endurance category. Sprinters compete in Sprint and Keirin, while Endurance riders do Elimination and Scratch races. Round 2 is next weekend in Berlin. The series, now in its second season, concludes with two races in London.

USA Cycling Madison Track National Championships: Detroit, Michigan

(November 10-13) – Madison teams joined together in Detroit at the Lexus Velodrome to vie for the Elite Men’s, Elite Women’s, Junior and Masters National Titles.

Tristan Manderfeld successfully defended his title with a new partner, Colby Lange in the Elite Men’s event with Debbie Milne and Nicole Borem-Schickel taking home the gold in the women’s race.

Northampton International Cyclocross: Northampton, MA

(November 12-13) – It was another weekend of age-group and elite CX racing in New England, with hundreds of cyclists taking on two days of racing at the 31st running of this Northampton, MA race.
