Frederick, Md. - It was a crisp, fall day in the backwoods of beautiful Maryland, where the 2022 USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships were contested, awarding 26 National Titles.
At the front of the race, the elite men were finishing sub 4 hours with Luke Vrouwenvelder (Charlottesville, Va.; Giant Factory Off-Road) taking the win by 3-minutes over teammate and regining National Champion Stephan Davoust (Durango, Colo.; Giant Factory Off-Road). On the Women’s side, Tokyo 2020 Mountain Bike Olympian Erin Huck(Boulder, Colo.; Scott-Shimano-Arnicare) took home the well-earned gold, beating second place by five minutes. Huck has not been racing much since her Olympic appearance and after her pregnancy. The community was excited to see her back on the starting line at the XC Mountain Bike National Championships close to home in Colorado this summer, as well as the Pikes Peak APEX stage race. With things shaping up towards the end of the season, she decided to make the trek to the east coast. She not only got back on the starting line, but won the Marathon Mountain Bike National Title.
