Dr. Roshon has graciously accepted this volunteer role to lead USA Cycling’s medical strategy and initiatives

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Cycling is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Roshon, Chief of Medical Staff for the Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, CO, as our Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Roshon has graciously accepted this volunteer role to lead USA Cycling’s medical strategy and initiatives. Many of you may already be familiar with Dr. Roshon’s name thanks to the invaluable webinars he has provided to the USA Cycling community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased to formalize this relationship and extend the reach and impact of Dr. Roshon’s expertise beyond this pandemic specifically.

Athlete well-being was established in 2019 as a critical USA Cycling initiative, starting with the launch of In Our Own Words and followed shortly by the introduction of our Well-Being Program in early 2020. Supporting long-term athlete well-being on and off the bike remains a primary focus of our organization, and the appointment of Dr. Roshon adds additional expertise and experience to these efforts. One of Dr. Roshon’s primary responsibilities for USA Cycling will be to lead a team of voluntary physicians who currently serve as USA Cycling’s medical advisory group. He will collaborate with key USA Cycling stakeholders, including the UCI, USOPC, and our sponsors and partners, to foster the sustained health and wellness of USA Cycling athletes through development of evidence-based practices.

USA Cycling is thankful to Dr. Roshon for his continued support and guidance and we look forward to sharing his expertise with our athletes and community.
