Kaia grew up in competitive soccer, skiing, and cycling. She grew up skiing in Killington, VT, and found her love for the roads in Marblehead, MA. Kaia’s father would bring her to local races that he was racing at and put her in the little kid races at 5 years old. When Kaia was 9 years old she got put into a local track cycling program around a GoKart track, when she was 11 she started to race cyclocross, and when she was 15 she began racing road.

In high school Kaia attended Proctor Academy, a boarding school in New Hampshire that allowed her to pursue competitive cycling and mogul skiing. In the winters, Kaia would compete in mogul skiing with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and she would compete in cycling the remainder of the year. At 16, while still in high school, Kaia won her first professional criterium at Intelligentsia Cup and earned her first National title. At 17, Kaia graduated from high school to get a head start on college. Kaia decided to attend CU Boulder to pursue a degree in business while still being able to ski and bike.
In 2021, Kaia had a breakthrough season earning three medals in Cairo, Egypt at Junior Track World Championships including her first World title in the Elimination race. Kaia continued her success by winning two stages of Ras Na mBan in Kilkenny, Ireland which was her first elite road race in Europe. Kaia finished off her season at the 100th edition of the Road World Championships in Flander, Belgium taking the silver medal in the Junior Women’s road race. After having a successful junior career, Kaia decided to make the jump into the pro peloton by signing her first pro contract and entering the Women’s WorldTour with Human Powered Health. Now, at 19, Kaia resides in Girona, Spain to race her bike and remains in Boulder, CO during her offseason.
