Kevin was born in South Africa and moved to Southern California when he was very young. His dad raced when he was younger and was his main inspiration for getting into the sport. His cycling career started out racing as a 15-16 year old for Team Velosport on both the mountain bike and road bike. When he became a junior, he joined Whole Athlete and LUX Cycling. These teams provided the base for his junior career. As a junior, he won the mountain bike national championships, finished 2nd in the road race, and attended both world championships, placing 13th in the XCO and 8th in the road race. As an under 23 rider, he joined Hagens Berman Axeon and focused full time on the road. In his first season, he won Liege-Bastogne-Liege U23, finished 4th in Lillehammer GP, and had a string of other consistent performances at the professional/U23 level. Since 2021, he has been racing in the World Tour with Team DSM.
