A native of Traverse City, Michigan, Larry Warbasse is the 2017/2018 US National Road Race Champion. In June 2017 he recorded the first pro win of his career – and the maiden victory for Aqua Blue Sport – with an epic solo effort to win Stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse.
He was also a member of the Aqua Blue Sport squad that contested La Vuelta a España, his race (and season) unfortunately being cut short owing to a crash on Stage 7 in which he sustained fractures to both his hands.
First introduced to cycling through the vibrant mountain bike scene in his hometown, Warbasse took to the sport in earnest during his teenage years. The experience of competing in Europe with the US U23 squad was to prove the catalyst for his pursuit of a pro cycling career. He joined BMC as a stagiaire in 2012 and as a full World Tour pro the following year, with his first Grand Tour ride coming in the 2014 Vuelta. Moving to IAM Cycling for the next season, Warbasse again saw action in the 2015 and 2016 Vueltas with the Swiss World Tour outfit, also competing in the 2016 Giro D’Italia.
