The season-long collegiate cycling team omnium is based on all five collegiate cycling national championships: Track, Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, BMX, and Road.
After the conclusion of Collegiate Road Nationals in Augusta, GA, the points were calculated and the winners were announced!
The Division I Collegiate Club category came down to a very tight points race, between the top two schools! The University of Arizona (Tucson, Ariz.) won with 281 points. Only 9 points behind were the University of Vermont (Burlington, Verm.) in second, with the University of Colorado Boulder (Boulder, Colo.) in a distant third. California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Colorado State University (Fort Collins, Colo.) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In a battle at the top between two of our Nations’ service academies, the US Military Academy came out victorious to take the Division II Collegiate Club category with 208 points, beating out the US Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who earned 152 points throughout the year to finish in 2nd. Humboldt State University (Humboldt, Cali.), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Mass.), and University of Denver (Denver, Colo.) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the Collegiate Varsity category, Colorado Mesa University (Grand Junction, Colo.) won with a total of 378 points. By winning the Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, and Road National Championships, they were able to secure the overall omnium title. Marian University (Indianapolis, Ind.) secured second, with a victory at Track Nationals, and Lindsey Wilson College (Columbia, Kent.), with an impressive victory at BMX Nationals, finished third. Savannah College of Art and Design – Atlanta (Atlanta, Ga.) and Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Mo.) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
