The third annual UCI Gravel World Championships are heading to Halle-Leuven, Belgium on October 5-6, 2024.
The qualification process for the UCI Gravel World Championships is multi-faceted for elite and amateur racers. USA Cycling’s Gravel National Championships in Gering, Nebraska was a qualifier for age group National Champions as well as the fastest 25% of men and women from each age group in the UCI Gravel World Series. Then, USA Cycling had the opportunity to nominate wild card athletes that included the top five finishers in the Elite Gravel National Championships.
The courses vary across paved and unpaved roads throughout Flanders with distances ranging anywhere between 86 kilometers to 181 kilometers depending on the category. 2024 Elite Gravel National Champions Brennan Wertz (Mill Valley, Calif.; Mosaic Cycles) and Lauren Stephens (Dallas; Cynisca Cycling) will battle for the rainbow jersey over 181 kilometers and 134 kilometers, respectively.
