So many it is hard to choose. If pressed, then I guess the apex was climbing the iconic Col de La Madeleine with my son Travis, our inGamba guide Sancho, and USA Cycling’s Lauren Hall, and then descending off of the Col de Chaussy on this crazy switchback goat track road (where we ran into the AG2R development team coming up on a training ride), and then having a shower and lunch in a crazy little hotel in Saint Jean de Maurienne before watching the finish of Stage 4 in Valloires inside the UCI VIP paddock. Totally epic!
Logistics ran like clockwork, which really isn’t surprising since USA Cycling knows from long experience how to manage a tour experience. Maybe slightly more surprising is that Jonathon Vaughters showed up for dinner and rode with our group. Great to get his perspective on EF and the tour.
I’m coming every year until somebody makes me stop. I love the riding in this part of the world, the hotel, Lake Annecy, the food, the guides, the inside scoop you only get as a USA Cycling guest, and of course, watching the tour on French TV in the afternoon after being thoroughly smoked from your ride.
This is such a special experience if you are a fan of cycling and especially if you are a fan of our USA cyclists, there is no better way to experience the Tour from the inside. Totally unique and authentic experience.
