Meet the Athlete

I found my love for cycling at the age of 7 in Bend, Oregon. I had just moved to Bend in 2008 with my mom and my brother, from Southern California, while my dad continued to commute back and forth from Los Angeles for work. As our family began to settle in, I knew I always loved the outdoors. While my parents continued to work to support our family, I got involved in some local cycling programs to follow my love of the outdoors. Soon after hopping on the mountain bike, I knew that cycling was something I loved and am passionate about. At the age of 10, I began racing cyclocross throughout Oregon.

Growing up, how did youth sports, cycling, or others impact who you are today?

My youth cycling impacted who I am today by teaching me to value hard work, determination, and teamwork. One of my biggest beliefs to this day is that you always support your teammates, whether that means working together on the road or being there to support them at races.

What is your favorite post-ride snack/ meal?

I have to say that my favorite post-ride meal is probably spaghetti with meatballs to refuel the body.

What are your pre-race rituals?
Over the years I have found a pre-race routine that works for me and I continue to stick with it. 3 hours before my race I eat my last full meal consisting of carbs, proteins, and some veggies. My typical go to meals before races are rice & eggs, pasta, chicken sausage etc. Then when I am an hour out from my event, I typically have a banana or some energy chews before my warmup. Lastly, on the start line or 15 minutes before my race I take a energy gu. Continuing to hydrate with Skratch...
