Intentional
We build community.
USA Cycling is committed to implementing a series of immediate, short-term and long-term initiatives designed to encourage and facilitate an inclusive culture of equity in cycling. Actions will include, but are not limited to, the launch of a DEI Task Force; a restructuring and diversifying of USA Cycling’s Staff and Board composition; increased representation in USA Cycling’s membership, strategic marketing and communication efforts; open channels of communication regarding DEI efforts with the USA Cycling community; ensuring that people feel safe within USA Cycling culture and spaces; and, funding allocated specifically to enhancing intentional DEI efforts in the cycling community.
Listen, Learn, & Lead
Everyone has a story.
The USA Cycling community includes individuals holding a range of values, identities, beliefs and experiences. We are committed to creating intentional spaces and consistent opportunities for members of our community to raise their voices and share their stories. We will learn from our community and develop resources and initiatives tailored to the specific needs of various groups within the cycling community. We also commit to sharing these resources and initiatives with the broader cycling industry. We will amplify and center marginalized voices in the cycling community and provide a safe space for individuals to share their experiences, free from intolerance, hatred or discrimination.
Respect
Our differences will unite rather than divide.
USA Cycling will play an active role in establishing a culture of trust and respect within the cycling community. We will recognize and respect one another’s experiences and acknowledge that it is ultimately our differences that make the cycling community so vibrant and appealing. We will take the time to listen without responding where appropriate and appreciate the courage it takes to speak one’s truth. And we will appreciate one another for our differences, rather than despite them.
Growth
Constantly evolve the who, what, where and why.
USA Cycling will constantly strive to be better today than yesterday. Allyship is a verb, not a noun. We will not be stagnant, but instead, proactively seek opportunities to partner with, and learn from community members who are creating a culture of diversity, equity and inclusivity that we aspire to practice. We will be transparent about the learning we are doing, the challenges we are encountering and the actions we are taking to evolve.
