Education
Building a foundation for understanding.
At USA Cycling, we recognize that fostering inclusivity at every level relies on providing comprehensive DEIB education for our staff, members, and coaches. Through the development of resources and training modules, we can initiate a positive cultural shift within the cycling community. Our commitment to education is integral to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all current and future riders.
Engagement
Building bridges towards a more diverse future.
At USA Cycling, our mission is to implement focused initiatives that actively engage underrepresented groups, by encouraging their active participation as athletes, leaders, and coaches. Our primary focus lies in promoting diverse representation across all levels of cycling, including fostering women's growth, BIPOC growth, and cultivating diversity within our governance and staff. Through these efforts, we strive to create an inclusive and equitable cycling community where everyone feels empowered to thrive.
Partnerships
Building community.
At USA Cycling, we understand the importance of our community and we aim to cultivate meaningful partnerships with community organizations in order to uplift those working towards inclusion and access. By forging strong community collaborations, we actively promote grassroots development and establish lasting connections with underrepresented groups within cycling.
Policies
Building lasting change.
At USA Cycling, our aim is to establish and uphold inclusive policies that actively promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging throughout the cycling community. We are committed to regularly reviewing and adapting existing internal and external policies to align with DEIB principles, fostering an inclusive culture within our organization.
At the annual PS18 BikeFest, USA Cycling is proud to help inspire the next generation of riders. We connect youth with elite athletes like Josh Hartman who provide hands-on racing clinics and share personal stories of how cycling has opened doors to world travel and new life experiences. Additionally, we provide the essential signage and foundational resources needed for these potential racers to take their first steps into the world of competitive cycling. Watch the Video.
We are committed to strengthening our relationship with the Major Taylor International Cycling Alliance by supporting their annual member club meetings. These sessions serve as a vital bridge for communication, where we provide MTICA members with comprehensive guides on membership benefits and the step-by-step process of sanctioning and insuring races with USA Cycling.
USA Cycling is dedicated to closing the gender gap in coaching through our Women in Coaching Initiative. By partnering with events like the WOZ Ride Summit, we actively recruit and mentor women to lead in the mountain bike community. Our efforts are yielding measurable results with the number of certified women’s coaches growing by 83.5% in 2025.
The purpose of these grants is to empower groups, organizations, programs, and institutions championing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the American cycling community to support growth within HBCU/TCU institutions and to break down barriers to access racing in the United States.
