COACHING | LEVEL 2
Coaches who are Level 2 certified can expect to take home a wealth of
knowledge in achieving a higher level of bike-handling skills, a better
understanding of the physiological stresses and adaptations the body
endures through training, and how to utilize these stresses and
adaptations in writing a better training plan for their athletes.
All coaches looking to obtain their Level 2 license must be a
licensed Level 3 coach in good standing with USA Cycling. You will be
required to attend a Road Level 2 Clinic and then take the Level 2 test,
which will only be made available at the conclusion of the Level 2
Clinic.
Note: There is no fee to upgrade a coaching license.
2022 Coaching Clinic Schedule Coming Soon!
The Level 2 Clinics aim to educate coaches to best prepare athletes to become competitive bike racers. The agenda for the clinics will provide a foundation in sport physiology and training plan design. The clinic is comprised of two parts:
- Part One: is an on-bike skills component. The objective is to
improve the ability of coaches to teach skills in a fun and engaging
manner. All coaches will be expected to participate in the on-bike
skills session to the best of the coach's ability. If a person is unable
to participate, the coach will be expected to observe and assist with
instruction when feasible.
- Part Two: will educate coaches on the basics of sport physiology, sport nutrition, over-training, and training plan design.
Important Information:
- Coaches will need to have a bike in good working condition. USA Cycling cannot provide bikes for the clinic.
- Must have either an annual racing license or a one-day license.
- You will earn 40 CEU's for attending a Level 2 Clinic.
- Level 2 Coaches may attend the Level 2 Clinic as a refresher course to earn CEUs if space is available; priority will be given to current Level 3 Coaches seeking to upgrade.
