USA Cycling and the Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP), a nonprofit public charity advancing the global standard in mountain bike instruction, have partnered to evolve coaching practices in cycling.
The BICP is headed by Shaums March, a three-time World Team member, two-time Masters World Champion and the first African American to win a NORBA National race and be chosen to attend the Mountain Bike World Championships. Shaums is also considered by many to be one of the best coaches mountain biking has ever seen and an all-around nice guy.
Together, USA Cycling and the BICP are committed to setting the standard in coach education and to creating pathways for kids to get on bikes and stay riding throughout life.
The benefits of this partnership will be realized through:
- USA Cycling acknowledges Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for each BICP course.
- BICP licensed coaches receiving waived fees for USA Cycling Level 3 Coach Licenses
- USAC licensed coaches receiving the BICP Ride Leader Certification for free with a $65 BICP membership
