Erin was born and raised just outside of the small town of Estes Park, Colorado. As a Colorado native, she grew up exploring all the adventurous sports her beautiful and rugged state had to offer. Eventually, she settled on mountain biking as her sport of choice and pursued elite competition. In 2012, after a few seasons of success on the domestic race scene, Erin was selected to the USA Cycling Mountain Bike World Championship team. This was a turning point in her cycling career where Erin determinedly set her focus on international competition and the desire to become one of the best mountain bike racers in the world. This focus paid off as Erin has made significant gains within the North American and International race scene to become a top US racer; a 2016 and 2020 Olympic Long List team member, 4 time National Champion, and a regular UCI podium threat.

In May of 2019, Erin suffered a severe fracture of her ankle while training in Germany for the first World Cup of the season. Prior to going into emergency surgery, the German doctor told her that she would likely never return to elite competition; and even walking or running may be limited. Less than 4 months later, she finished 35th at the World Championships and went on to get 12th at the World Cup finals.
This setback has only made Erin more determined and looking ahead, she will be focused on qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. Currently, the US is ranked to have 3 starting positions. Of these spots, 2 are remaining. The qualification will come down to the first World Cup of the season which is in the Czech Republic on May 24th. Erin achieved her career best finish on this course at the 2016 World Championships, where she finished 11th
Earning a spot on the 2012 USA World Championship team was a turning point for me. It was my first major international race and I realized I wanted to see what I was truly capable of at this level.

Don't limit yourself. Let yourself dream and set big goals. Just because no one else is doing something, doesn't mean it can't be done.

The day before a race I like to paint my nails. I will choose the nail polish color from my collection based on the name. Some of my favorites are: Petal to the Metal, Endurance Race to the Finish, No Stopping me now, and Go with the Flowy

Racing the Tokyo Test event 4 months after ankle surgery. I felt really good on that course and it made all hours of focused rehab and dreaming of returning to racing, but not knowing if I could, worth it.
