On the fourth day of the 2024 UCI Track World Championships, Team USA competed in the Women’s Individual Pursuit, Women’s Madison, and Men’s Omnium at the Ballerup Super Arena.
Reigning Individual Pursuit World Champion Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind.; CANYON//SRAM Racing) started the morning by breaking her own World Record, riding to a time of 3:15.663 in the 3km Pursuit. She advanced to the gold medal round against Anna Morris (GBR), and the battle was on. Dygert held the advantage until 2250 meters into the race, when Morris slowly began to edge her out. Morris secured the lead over Dygert by 0.317 seconds. Emily Ehrlich (Slater, S.C.; Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24) also competed in the event, qualifying tenth with a time of 3:28.964.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Madison partners Megan Jastrab (Apple Valley, Calif.; Team DSM-firmenich PostNL) and Jennifer Valente (San Diego, Calif.; Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24) teamed up for the World Championship Madison race this evening. The duo held their own in a highly competitive field, but Denmark, France, the Netherlands, and Italy all managed to take a lap on the field, gaining 20 points. Denmark, France, and Great Britain consistently captured points throughout the race. The U.S. team scored a total of 9 points, earning points in sprints two, three, and eleven, ultimately finishing sixth.

Grant Koontz (Nederland, Colo.; Star Track Cycling) started strong in the Men’s Omnium, finishing fourth in the Scratch Race against some of the world’s best. He entered the Tempo Race, staying with the group and finishing 15th. Unfortunately, in the Elimination Race, he was the first rider eliminated. Koontz went into the Points Race with 47 points, sitting 14th in the field. In the 100-lap race, he managed to take a lap, earning himself 20 points, and scored 20 more points through the sprints during the race. He finished 13th at the end of the four-event race.
