Congratulations to the USA Cycling Collegiate Omnium Champions!

By: Angelina Palermo  June 15, 2020

Colorado Mesa University, University of Colorado Boulder, and US Military Academy are the 2019-2020 Collegiate Omnium Champions.

In a typical collegiate racing season, the omnium is based on all five collegiate cycling national championships: Track, Mountain Bike, Cyclocross, BMX, and Road. Due to the school year getting cut short because of COVID-19, the USA Cycling BMX and Road National Championships were cancelled, leaving only three disciplines adding to the omnium points.

In the Collegiate Varsity category, Colorado Mesa University (Grand Junction, Colo.) won with a total of 232 points. By winning the Mountain Bike and Cyclocross National Championships and finishing second at the Track National Championship, they were able to win the overall omnium. Marian University (Indianapolis, Ind.) secured second place with just 3 points over Fort Lewis College (Durango, Colo.). Lindenwood University (Saint Charles, Mo.) and Milligan College (Elizabethon, Tenn.) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Division I Collegiate Club category came down to a very tight points race. The University of Colorado Boulder (Boulder, Colo.) won with 138 points with the majority of their points coming from their win at the Mountain Bike National Championship. Only 4 points behind was Colorado State University (Fort Collins, Colo.) in second with the University of Vermont (Burlington, Vt.) another 4 points back taking third. California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and University of Arizona (Tucson, Ariz.) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Nationals Day 3 8714

Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) won Collegiate Track Nationals early in the school year, and Colorado School of Mines (Golden, Colo.) won Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals tying the two schools with a total of 80 points. North Park University (Chicago, Ill.) and US Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
