The pros lined up in the gate on the 8-meter hill Sunday morning for the USA Cycling Elite BMX National Championships in Rock Hill, S.C. Reigning National Champions Connor Fields (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Alise Willoughby (Saint Cloud, Minn.) were the ones to beat out on the track today. 2020 Elite Junior National Champions Nick Adams (Orangeville, Calif.) and Payton Ridenour (Pottstown, Penn.) both aged out of the junior classes leaving their titles ready for new champions.
After a morning of head-to-head racing, World Champion Willoughby snagged the hole shot with Felicia Stancil(Indianapolis, Ind.) and Ridenour right behind. Willoughby would hold her lead to the finish line winning her 10thElite National Title. Fields would come out of the gate first, but not without pressure from Jared Garcia (Victorville, Calif.) and Kamren Larsen (Bakersfield, Calif.) who would take second and third. That makes five National Titles for the Olympic Gold Medalist, Connor Fields.
Nolan Cardwell (Hebron, Conn.) would win the Elite Junior Men’s National Championship with Drew Polk (Avon, Ind.) and Charlie Biggs (Huntersville, N.C.) rounding out the top three. The Junior Women took the gate with the rest of the Elite Women. Sierra Altendorf (Everett, Wash.) would finish with the best total points of the junior riders over Caitlyn Farmer (Atlanta, G.A.) and Brooke Craft (San Diego, Calif.) who would finish second and third, respectively.
