USA Cycling and Interscholastic Cycling Leagues Announce Partnership To Get More Kids On Bikes And Keep Them Riding

By: Liz Kollar  November 18, 2020

USA Cycling and the Interscholastic Cycling Leagues of Arizona and Georgia are pleased to announce a new partnership. In an ongoing effort to get kids on bikes and keep them riding through life, these groups are committed to advancing opportunities for youth riders to ensure a bright future of the sport.

“Our shared perspective is that investing in the riders of tomorrow is critical for cycling in America. The intention of this partnership is to develop more synergy toward our common goals. We have been wildly successful at developing cycling programs for student-athletes and we believe that with our combined efforts the development of youth cycling will be further enhanced” said Mike Perry, President and Executive Director of the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League.

Beginning immediately, the benefits of this partnership will be realized with:

  • A financial sponsorship that includes annual funding for each league.
  • Free USA Cycling Junior memberships, and discounted Family memberships, for league student-athletes to reduce barriers and encourage participation at more local events.
  • Recognition of league event results to better facilitate talent identification, increase inclusion for National Championship call-ups and optimize the opportunity for riders who compete in a variety of events.
  • Collaboration on connecting maturing riders with their next cycling experience including the High School Bike Festival, High School National Championships and Collegiate Fair.

"The work has only just begun. Getting more kids on bikes and giving them a path to opportunity has no better champions than USA Cycling and these leagues,” said Rob DeMartini, CEO of USA Cycling. “Coming together for the greater good of cycling, to champion youth riding and racing and developing America’s next Olympians is what we are going to do together.”

Stay tuned for more updates from these organizations in the future working to get more kids on bike and keep them there.
