USA Cycling Awards Inaugural Club Safe Sport Program Recipients

By: Kelsey Erickson  April 01, 2021

Six USA Cycling Clubs have been awarded their USA Cycling Safe Sport Level following the first round of applications.

USA Cycling’s new Club Safe Sport Program allows clubs to demonstrate their commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all club members through implementing, enforcing and monitoring USA Cycling’s Club Safe Sport Program. The Program was introduced in September 2020, with applications accepted on a bi-annual basis – June and December each year. To receive a Safe Sport level, clubs must demonstrate that they satisfy specific criteria. Clubs are being encouraged to join the Program and work their way towards Gold status, representing the most significant measures taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for club members.

Following the inaugural round of applications, USA Cycling is excited to award Safe Sport levels to the following six clubs:

Gold

Boulder Juniors (Boulder, Colo.)

Silver

GS Andiamo (Redlands, Calif.)

Bronze

Boost CycleSport (Los Angeles, Calif.)

CT Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP) (Middletown, Ct.)

Downtown Asheville Racing Club (DARC) (Asheville, N.C.)

Jerry Bakers Juniors (Redmond, Wash.)

USA Cycling encourages parents to look for the Safe Sport level badge and consider the measures of protection that clubs have implemented when determining where to embed their minor athlete in the cycling community.

If your club is interested in becoming a part of the Club Safe Sport Program, the next application cycle will begin June 1, 2021. This is a completely voluntary and no-cost program for all USA Cycling clubs aimed at showcasing a club’s commitment to creating a safe and positive environment for club members.
