Riders kicked off the first morning of competition with Individual Pursuit, 500m Time Trial, and Sprint Qualifying events. The evening session included Paracycling C2-5 and Blind Tandem Kilo Time Trials, Sprint finals, Points Race, and Scratch Race events. Twenty-five riders took home the Stars and Stripes jersey on the first day, while two national records were set. Allison Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.; SRAM) flew through the Women’s C2 1000m Time Trial in a time of 1:26.336, earning her a national record. Hannah Chadwick (Hayward, Colo.; US Paracycling) and her pilot Hayley Bates set a new national record in the Women’s B (Tandem) 1000m Time Trial with their time of 1:09.548.

Tyler Olmstead (Valley Center, Calif.; Titan Racing Team) clocked a time of 3:21.169 in the Men’s 40-44 3-kilometer Individual Pursuit, setting a new national record. Kimberly Ann Zubris (Alburtis, Penn.) set a national record with her time of 1:11.888 in the Women’s 40-44 1000m Time Trial. After a busy day of racing, 26 riders took home gold medals.

Steven Worley (Boulder, Colo.; High Plains Bank / Boulder Masters Cycling Team) broke the national record for the Men’s 75-79 2-kilometer Individual Pursuit. Andrea Villaroman (Colorado Springs, Colo.; COS Racing) rode a powerfully paced 1:08.078 in the Women’s 35-39 1000m Time Trial, earning her a national record and a world’s best performance. Brian Abers (Colorado Springs, Colo.; Brihop Coaching) flew through the Men’s 60-64 200m Time Trial with a time of 10.706, setting a national record. Hannah Chadwick (Hayward, Colo.; US Paracycling) and her pilot Hayley Bates set a national record in the Women’s B (Tandem) 4-kilometer Individual Pursuit with their time of 4:56.767. Stephen McLaughry (Portland, Ore.; BikeCentral/BarburVet) flew through the Men’s 50-44 200m Time Trial with a time of 10.568, setting a national record. Hout/Morelli/Walker established a new national record in the Para C1-5 Mixed Team Sprint with their time of 1:14.296. Stephens/Christiansen/Chadwick/Bates followed suit, establishing a new national record in the Para B Mixed Team Sprint with their time of 1:06.733.

The final day of racing was all about fast times, teamwork, and record-breaking rides. Michael Stephens & Joe Christiansen (Huntington, W.Va.; Brihop Coaching) and Hannah Chadwick & Hayley Bates (Hayward, Colo.; US Paracycling) took home the Stars and Stripes in the Men’s B (Tandem) Flying 200m and Women’s B (Tandem) Flying 200m, respectively. Brady Hout (Ronan, Mont.) won the national title in the Men’s C4 (Cycling) Sprint, while Patrick Halgren (Tolland, Conn.) earned the national title in the Men’s C5 (Cycling) Sprint. Katie Walker (San Diego, Calif.) took home the Stars and Stripes in the Women’s C5 (Cycling) Sprint. Fifteen teams would claim the gold in Team Pursuit and Team Sprint, with six of those teams setting new national records. Cottell/Szwarc/Cox/Meidof set the Men’s 45+ Team Pursuit (4-kilometer) national record with a time of 4:26.603, while Paulson/Storey/Jackson/Fox set the national record in the Men’s 65+ Team Pursuit (3-kilometer) with a time of 3:30.488. A new national record of 4:01.203 was established in the Women’s 55+ Team Pursuit (3-kilometer) by Traylor/Yarnall/Rahn/Anthony. Nozawa/Treat/Villaroman set the national record in the Women’s 35+ Team Sprint (1000m) with a time of 1:08.920, while Thompson/B. Schickel/Woods set the national record in the Women’s 45+ Team Sprint (1000m) with a time of 1:16.887. Gildea/Todd/Kissee set the Men’s 65+ Team Sprint (1000m) national record with a time of 1:08.905.
