18-Year-Old Ashlin Barry Finishes Fourth in Under-23 Men’s Time Trial at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships

On the second day of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships the Under-23 racers took on their Time Trials in downtown Montreal. 18-year-old Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development) had the standout ride of the day finishing fourth in his first-year racing in the U23 category. 

U23 Men

The U23 Men took on the 31-kilometer Time Trial, with Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development) delivering a strong ride from start to finish. Barry steadily picked up the pace throughout the course, posting his fastest time at the final split to move up the standings and cross the finish line in second. He would ultimately finish fourth, just 22 seconds off the podium, feeling like he still had more to give. Kade Kreikemeier (Fort Collins, Colo.; Meridian Racing) was the first American out of the start hut. The current Time Trial National Champion maintained a consistent pace throughout the course to finish 27^th in his World Championship debut.

U23 Women

The U23 Women took on the 20-kilometer course through Montreal, with Kylee Hanel (Portland, Ore.; Aegis X Leaders of Enchantment) making her World Championship debut. Hanel put together a strong ride, completing the course in just under 30 minutes to finish 21^st. Lidia Cusack (Chevy Chase, Md.; Smurfit Westrock Cycling Team) unfortunately crashed during the race, finishing 33^rd, looking ahead to the road race on Friday.
