Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling Summer All-Stars Build Skills, Community, and Confidence
Thanks to the USA Cycling Everyone Rides Community Impact Grant, Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling (BCYC) in Philadelphia engaged 27 youth in an 8-week Summer All-Star Program from June through August 2025. Riders joined one or more discipline teams, Race, Tour, and Mountain Bike, with 10 athletes participating on multiple teams, reflecting broad interest and growing confidence. Notably, five recent high-school graduates chose to stay involved over the summer, a strong signal of program stickiness and belonging.
BCYC athletes sharpened discipline-specific skills and connected with the local cycling scene by riding with other area clubs and teams throughout the season. One participant, Mamady, stepped up to compete in a mountain bike race, an individual milestone that also highlights the team’s supportive pathway from practice to performance.
Leadership growth was a parallel focus: three youth leaders from BCYC’s Youth Advisory Council traveled from Philadelphia to Boston to attend the National Youth Bike Summit, bringing back ideas and renewed energy for their peers.
BCYC is grateful to USA Cycling for supporting access, skills, and leadership for Philadelphia’s youth.
