The 2024 UCI Road and Para-Cycling Road World Championships kicked off in Zurich, Switzerland on Saturday. Sunday’s racing featured the Elite Time Trials, with six Americans on the start list. 59 men and 70 women took to the starting hut in Switzerland, finishing on the beautiful Lake Zurich.
Lining up for the women’s event were reigning Time Trial World Champion Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind.; CANYON//SRAM Racing), Amber Neben (Irvine, Calif.), Emily Ehrlich (Greenville, S.C.; Team Twenty24), and Lauren Stephens (Dallas; Cynisca Cycling).
Over the 30km course, Australia’s Olympic Gold Medalist Grace Brown put down a blistering fast time of 39:16.04. All eyes were on Dygert as the final rider to start. She crossed the line in 40:12.26, securing the third spot on the podium. Nebenwas the next highest American finisher, rounding out the top ten.

Brandon McNulty (Phoenix, Ariz.; Team UAE) and Magnus Sheffield (Pittsford, N.Y.; Ineos Grenadiers) were the two American men to line up inside the Oerlikon Velodrome for the Time Trial this afternoon.
The duo were chasing the time of Olympic Gold Medalist Remco Evenepoel (BEL), who finished in 53:01.98 over the 46km course. McNulty was the fourth-to-last rider to start, following the world’s top time trialists Primož Roglič (SLO), Filippo Ganna (ITA), and Evenepoel. McNulty was sixth at the first split, seventh at the second, and ultimately finished tenth with a time of 55:00.01. Sheffield was only 10 seconds behind McNulty, finishing 13th.
