By: Parker Ohlmann  August 07, 2020

Based out of Northern Illinois, DIRTy Squirrels Racing is a MTB and Cyclocross racing team that was named Best New Club of the Year in 2018 and the Best Mountain Bike Club of 2019 by USA Cycling.

Here is a little background and history on DIRTy Squirrels Racing provided to us by Charlotte Gutierrez:

DIRTy Squirrels Racing is a Mountain Bike and Cyclocross racing team out of Palatine, IL. Started by Charlotte and Andres Gutierrez in 2018, the team already has many successes to its name, including being named the "2018 Best New Club of the Year" by USA Cycling, two 2018 IL MTB State Championship titles, 2018 Chicago Cross Cup Series Winner, four 2019 IL MTB State Championship titles, and a 2019 Regional MTB State Championship title.

The best thing about this diverse team of riders, coming from all over the world, is their love of racing, whether on dirt, grass, gravel, or mud. DIRTy Squirrels Racing competed in the 2018 and 2019 seasons of the Illinois MTB State Championship Race Series, the 2018 Chicago Cyclocross Cup, and the 2019 Andes Epic 3-day MTB Stage Race in Barbosa, Colombia in June 2019.

The team was honored to once again be named a "Club of the Year" by USA Cycling as the 2019 Mountain Bike Club of the Year. In 2020, the team debuted their new Cross Country Racing Team p/b Albabici, and had big plans for the season including returning to Colombia to compete in the 7 Day MTB Stage Race, La Leyenda del Dorado. Although those plans have been put on hold, the team continues to ride and train and will be ready to take on this awesome challenge in 2021!
