Gravity events took center stage on the second day of the 2021 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships. Non-championship downhill racing on the Amateur DH Track kicked off the morning, with the energetic dual slalom non-championship races finished the day. In addition to gravity events, the mountain was open to our cross-country competitors racing later this weekend

The atmosphere at the top of the mountain was exhilarating, with riders packed together chatting about their favorite course features and giving each other pro tips on which lines to take. Everyone was eager to take to the ramp. The pre-event energy led to an action-packed day on a very technical downhill course. Racers could be seen smiling and yelling out of excitement during their runs. The fastest time of the day was by Fred Lariviere (Alpine, Utah.; Commencal – Leatt – Outlaw). He finished in a time of 5:29.6 and convincingly won the Junior Men's 13-14 Non-Championship Downhill race. On the women's side, Alaina Guliuzza (Mccall, Idaho; Outlaw Bike Team) finished at a time of 6:37.6. Like Lariviere, Guliuzza won the Junior 13-14 Non-Championship Downhill race, but for the women.

The dual slalom non-championship events saw the qualifying rounds start. The event will continue tomorrow. Also racing tomorrow are the Junior Men's & Women's 6-12 Non-Championship Cross-Country events. Finally in the afternoon, the first of the championship titles will be awarded to the cross-country Master 55+ age groups.
