AMARILLO, TEXAS — This weekend over 350 athletes from across the nation will descend onto the Palo Duro Canyon State Park for the 2019 USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships. This will be the first of two years at this venue for the championship.

The 45-mile course offers little bit of everything from technical climbing, sweeping corners, creek side flowing trails and punchy climbs, with just shy of 3,000 ft. of climbing. Riders will be making 3 trips through the start/finish area at the Mack Dick Group Pavilion, heading out on 3 slightly different loops. The course map can be seen here.

The one-day event will award 25 Stars-and-Stripes jerseys in men’s and women’s pro/open, junior 17-18, senior 19-29, masters 30-80+, and singlespeed divisions. Payson McElveen (Durango, Colo.) and Amy Beisel (Colorado Springs, Colo.) , the Men’s and Women’s Pro winners from the 2018 edition of the race are back this year to defend their titles.
