Marian University and Rice University Win Team Omniums at the 2025 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships

Stephanie Lawrence and Fred Meredith claim the top step of the Individual Omniums.   

The 2025 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships concluded Sunday afternoon after an exciting four days of racing at the Major Taylor Velodrome. Marian University and Rice University captured the Team Omnium titles in their respective divisions.

Sprints 

Competition began on Thursday with the sprint qualification races. In the Women’s Sprint, Stephanie Lawrence (Colorado Springs, Colo.; Marian University) and Mia Deye (Geigertown, Pa.; Colorado Mesa University) moved through to the final. Lawrence won both rides to earn the National Title. In the Men’s Sprint, Noah Mandow (Santa Monica, Calif.; Santa Monica College) and Joshua Trerise (Sherwood, Ore.; Marian University) moved through to the final with Mandow claiming the Stars and Stripes.

Team Pursuit 

The Team Pursuit took center stage at the end of the first morning session. Marian University's women's team of Claire Kudlata (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), Nicole Larue (Fort Wayne, Ind.), Lawrence, and Mairen Lawson (Grand Prairie, Calif.) set a time of 4:55.99, which secured them the top spot. On the men’s side, Milligan University's Dillon Geary (Saint Charles, Mo.), Riley Wrightsman (Wauwatosa, Wis.), Brody McDonald (Escondido, Calif.), and Ronald Shindell won the event in 4:22.796.

Points Race 

The Points Race took center stage on Friday evening. After an action-packed 90 laps, McDonald earned the win after securing 59 points. He just edged out last year’s winner and teammate, Geary. On the women’s side, Lawrence took a commanding lead after sprint nine, claiming the National Title with 35 points. Last year’s winner, Javiera Munoz (Milligan College, Tenn.; Milligan University)earned silver, and Reagen Pattishall (Breinigsville, Pa.; Piedmont University) rounded out the podium in third.

Time Trial 

Saturday morning kicked off with the Men’s Kilo Time Trial, where Mandow added another jersey to his collection, stopping the clock in a time of 1:06.879. Marian University's Jonah Hover (Allentown, Pa.; Marian University) secured second place, and Geary rounded out the podium in third. On the women’s side, Lawrence earned the win.

Individual Pursuit 

The Men's Individual Pursuit had 37 riders on the start list. Riley Wrightsman (Wauwatosa, Wis.; Milligan University) stopped the clock at 4:38.794, earning gold. In the Women’s Pursuit, Lawrence earned the track record, finishing her 4-kilometer pursuit in a time of 5:08.493.

Scratch Race 

In the Men’s Scratch Race, 33 riders lined up to race for 36 laps and their chance to claim a National Title. Meredith took the win after a hard-fought battle. Thirty riders took the track for the Women’s Scratch Race, where Lawrence claimed another National Title.

Omniums 

The ultimate award at Collegiate Track Nationals is the Omnium Award. The omnium is the best all-around performance for individuals and teams, Varsity and Club. Marian University's Lawrence claimed the Women's Omnium National Title with wins in the Sprint and Scratch Race. Meredith, who claimed gold in the Men’s Scratch Race, won the Men's Omnium. Marian University took top honors in the Varsity Team Omnium, and Rice University claimed the Club Team Omnium title.
