Men’s Team Pursuit Finishes Fourth at 2025 UCI Junior Track World Championships
On the second day of the 2025 UCI Junior Track World Championships, the junior men competed in the Team Pursuit Finals and the Scratch Race at the Omnisport Apeldoorn Arena.
The Team USA squad of Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; JEGG - SKIL - DJR powered by Visma Lease-a-Bike), Merrick Gallagher (Redmond, Wash.; Jerry Baker Juniors), Peyton Burckel (Lacombe, La.; EF Education-ONTO), and Enzo Hincapie (Greenville, S.C.; EF Education-ONTO) lined up against Germany in the bronze medal final. The U.S. squad was riding strong and had promising splits for the majority of the race. With only four laps remaining, Burckel, sitting second wheel, appeared to get crossed up with a teammate, hitting the boards and crashing out of the final. The incident ended the team’s chance at a medal, with Germany taking bronze and Team USA finishing fourth.

Merrick Gallagher (Redmond, Wash.; Jerry Baker Juniors) lined up for the 30-lap race with a fast-moving field. About halfway through, Nathan Marcoux (FRA) launched an attack off the front. For several laps no one responded until Moritz Mauss (GER) surged ahead to bridge across. He closed the gap and the two held their own at the front of the race, looking promising for gold and silver. Meanwhile, there were two major crashes in the bunch, but Gallagher seemed to have managed to stay out of the chaos. In the final sprint, Marcoux powered to victory with Mauss taking silver, while Gallagher fought to the finish and crossed the line in 10th.
