Team USA Opens 2026 UCI Paracycling Road World Championships with Five Medals
The 2026 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships made their debut in Huntsville, Alabama, on September 4-7, bringing together the world’s top para-cyclists to compete for rainbow jerseys. Team USA opened the championships with a strong showing on Friday, earning five medals across the Handcycle and Tricycle Time Trials, including two World Titles and three additional podium finishes.

After winning both the Time Trial and Road Race World Titles in 2022 and 2024, Kate Brim (Lowell, Mich.) continued her dominant run with another World Title in Huntsville. Brim delivered a blazing performance, posting a time that would have put her third in the men’s category, earning her fifth World Title of her career.

Emelia Perry (Philadelphia, Penn.) delivered an incredible performance to claim her first UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championship title in the Time Trial. Perry improved on her silver medal from last year, taking the top step of the podium in just her second Paracycling World Championships.

After a challenging day racing in the Alabama heat, Jenna Rollman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) battled to a seventh-place finish in the Women’s H3 Time Trial.

Barry Wilcox (Port Angeles, Wash.) put down a blazing-fast ride to take the hot seat early in the Men’s H1 Time Trial. Wilcox ultimately finished second after Patrick Johoda (CZE) moved into the top spot, finishing just 14 seconds ahead. Wilcox’s silver medal marks another strong World Championship performance on home soil for Team USA.

After a string of fourth-place finishes, Cody Wills (Harrisburg, Penn.) finally broke through for his first World Championship medal, earning bronze in the Men’s H2 Time Trial. Teammate Jeremy Van Tress (Herriman, Utah) finished just 11 seconds behind Wills to take fourth after a strong ride in his World Championship debut. Also in his first World Championships, Nicholas McCoy (Boerne, Texas) put together a solid performance to finish ninth.

Ryan Pinney (Phoenix, Ariz.) came within seconds of the podium after a strong race in the Men’s H3 Time Trial. Racing two laps of the 14.6-kilometer course for a total of 29.2 kilometers, Pinney finished fourth. Owen Daniels (Fontana, Calif.) also put together a solid ride, finishing 12th.

The Men’s H4 field completed two laps of the 14.6-kilometer course, taking on the challenging Alabama heat. Team USA earned two top-10 finishes, with Tom Davis (Fremont, Ind.) placing fifth and Matt Tingley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finishing seventh.

Freddie De Los Santos (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Josue Barron (Los Angeles, Calif.) took on the 29.2-kilometer Men’s H5 Time Trial. Both riders battled through the demanding conditions over the two-lap course, with De Los Santos finishing fifth and Barron taking 10th.

Dennis Connors (Beaverton, Ore.) put himself in medal contention with a blazing 22:33 ride in the Men’s T2 Time Trial, taking the hot seat early in the competition. Connors ultimately secured the bronze medal, finishing just 11 seconds behind the first place finisher after a tightly contested race.
