Team USA Recap: Honsinger Podiums in Zonnebeke CX; Juniors Earn Top-10s at Benidorm CX World Cup

Exact Cross: Zonnebeke, Belgium

(January 20)Clara Honsinger podiumed in Zonnebeke, taking 3rd in the elite women’s C2 race. It was the third top-10 placing this month for Honsinger, the elite women’s national champion.

UCI CX World Cup: Round 13, Benidorm, Spain

(January 21) – USA juniors continued their ultra-successful CX campaign in Europe, capturing three, top-10 spots at Benidorm, Spain. Vida Lopez de San Roman placed 6th in the Junior Women’s race, while David Thompson was 8th in the Junior Men’s race, and Andrew Strohmeyer was 8th in the men’s U23 race. It was the 22-year-old’s second top-10 World Cup placing this season.

Echelon Racing League: Wandering Flats Time Trial

(January 13) – Cyclists from around the globe competed virtually on the 25 kilometer Wandering Flats time trial course, race number four in the Echelon Racing League series.

Elyse Gallegos and Sarah Roach took 2nd and 3rd in the elite women’s race, with times of 37:37 and 38:28. The top eight elite men finished within one second of each other, with Americans JC, Alex TenElshof, Jadon Jaeger and Tom Corrigan placing 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th, in 33:06.

Echelon Racing League: Serpentine 8

(January 20) – Race 5 in the Echelon Racing League saw cyclists battle virtually over the 38 kilometer, two-lap gravel Serpentine 8 course. Holden Comeau (1:01:20), Matt Curbeau, and David Weinsteinwent 1-2-3 in the men’s elite race; Jacquie Godbe (1:08:37) was first and Elyse Gallegos 3rd in women’s elite.
