Team USA Takes on the World at the Masters Track World Championships

The 2017 UCI Masters Track World Championships came to an exciting close last weekend at the VELO Sports Center in Los Angeles.

The World Championships were open to qualified men and women riders 35 years of age and older and featured a wide spectrum of track events including: three sprint events – match sprints, 500-750-1000m time trial, team sprint – and four endurance events – pursuit, scratch race, points race, and team pursuit. The VELO Sports Center and Los Angeles – future home to the 2028 Olympic Games – proved to be an exciting venue for the thousands of athletes, families, friends and spectators who attended from more than 30 countries. The world-class venue did not disappoint with fast and aggressive racing that saw numerous world records established. As the host country, Team USA put up a strong performance and finished on top of the medal count earning 132 medals – including 47 gold medals – and capturing more than 50 percent of the available medals.
