On Friday, USA Cycling announced that it will partner with Echelon Racing Promotions for a fifth consecutive year to bring virtual racers together through the Echelon Racing League. At the conclusion of the five-race series, USA Cycling will host the 2025 USA Cycling eSports National Championships on February 1, 2025, using the MyWhoosh virtual racing platform.
Echelon Racing League & Echelon Racing League Championship
The Echelon Racing League presented by Takis® snacks is a five-race virtual series designed to provide racing opportunities for cyclists of all levels. Each race in the series offers a way for riders to compete, with omnium points awarded across the five races. For elite racers, the Echelon Racing League offers a cash prize structure, with the top five elite riders receiving prize money. To compete riders will pay a one-time registration fee of $15.
“Echelon Racing Promotions remains committed to providing the highest quality, accessible, fair and equitable competitions in the eSport cycling space. We continue to believe that esports provides a platform to strengthen the overall cycling community and its reach, influence, and impact by bringing virtual and in-real-life riders and racers together in collaboration with national governing bodies. We are thrilled to partner with MyWhoosh, who shares the same passion and energy to revolutionize cycling through eSport,” said Eric Hill, Echelon Racing League’s Co-Founder and President.
“It is clear that eSports continues to gain popularity and momentum, as seen by the recent UCI World Championships event on MyWhoosh held in Abu Dhabi,” continued Hill. “This is further highlighted by the new Echelon Racing League sponsors: Takis® snacks, the official snack of the ERL #FaceTheIntensity, and Wahoo. With eSports reaching a different demographic than traditional cycling events and, in many ways, being more accessible for competition, broadcasting, and viewership, brands see opportunity in this new frontier.”
The series concludes with the Echelon Racing League Championship race, reserved for the top 50 highest ranked athletes from the series. The Echelon Racing League Championship will award prizes to the top three finishers in each category, along with cash prizes for the top three elite athletes. The total prize purse for the series will be $10,000, equally divided between men’s and women’s categories.
