USA Cycling and PeopleForBikes Announce Partnership To Keep New Riders On Their Bikes For Years To Come

By: Cody Dedow  July 31, 2020

USA Cycling, the national governing body of cycling in the United States, and PeopleForBikes, America’s largest bicycling advocacy organization, have announced a strategic partnership to support the recent surge in bike ridership and strengthen the bike riding experience nationwide.

In what is shaping up to be a record-breaking year for biking, it is critical that the cycling community works together to welcome new riders and provide them with the proper resources to enjoy riding a bike safely.

USA Cycling and PeopleForBikes aim to embrace and leverage the intersection of sport and advocacy to help people get on their bikes, have fun and ride safely for years to come by sharing resources, expertise and influence to better advocate for cyclists across the U.S.

"We are seeing new riders, and entire families, turn to biking as a way to stay healthy and enjoy the outdoors while adjusting to lifestyle changes this year. The greater USA Cycling community is aware of the many benefits of cycling and has a unique opportunity to share their experience, and community, with this wave of newly engaged riders," said USA Cycling Brand Manager Cody Dedow. “We want to make sure USA Cycling is there to welcome riders and provide them the resources, knowledge and programs to take their newfound passion to whatever level they desire.”

Dedicated to making biking better for everyone since 1999, PeopleForBikes has been making the case for bikes for over two decades by touting the gains in personal health, community strength, economic prosperity and global sustainability that bikes can provide. This message has never resonated louder than it does today, and through Ride Spot, PeopleForBikes is working to spread the joy of experiencing life on two wheels.

PeopleForBikes created Ride Spot as an online community platform and navigation app to help bike riders discover and share great riding

experiences. With free audio and visual turn-by-turn navigation and an online social platform for people to record, publish and share their bicycling adventures, Ride Spot has become a fun and useful resource for riders from all walks of life.

“PeopleForBikes is committed to working in all of our areas of influence with our partners on the federal level, in local government, the bike industry, bike share and in transportation and recreation advocacy organizations to help galvanize issues that are important to all cyclists,” said Jose Maldonado, VP of marketing at PeopleForBikes.

Both organizations will support cyclists by sharing their respective expertise and resources with USA Cycling members as well as partnering on strategic projects that improve riding at the local level. By throwing their collective weight behind issues that cyclists have long been fighting for, they hope to make a measurable impact in the development of equitable access to safe bike networks that connect people to jobs, education, and other essential services.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR MEMBERS

USA Cycling and PeopleForBikes believe that the biking community is stronger together. That is why PeopleForBikes Ride Spot members will have access to a FREE six month membership for new members to USA Cycling, making it easier than ever for them to participate in their first cycling event.

Additionally, USA Cycling is pleased to be offering their members a FREE premium Ride Spot membership, giving them access to offline turn-by-turn navigation on bike routes near them, letting cyclists at all levels get out and explore a new ride.

Be on the lookout for more initiatives from these two organizations that focus on advocacy for cyclists at all levels and ride on!
