USA Cycling Foundation awards $25,000+ to 2020 Centers of Excellence Programs

By: Steve McCauley  June 25, 2020

The USA Cycling Foundation recently awarded 10 grants totaling more than $25,000 directly to qualifying Center of Excellence club teams thanks to a generous gift. These programs specialize in the development of young cycling athletes in road, track, mountain bike and cyclo-cross disciplines. The grants will support a variety of athlete development projects in 2020.

The USA Cycling Foundation recently awarded 10 grants to Center of Excellence club teams with early season camps and racing prior to March 15. Lux Cycling, Team Velosport, Bear Development, Twenty20, Team Swift, GS Andiamo, Matrix Cycle Club, Tieni Duro, CT Cycling Advancement and Boulder Junior Cycling were awarded a total of $29,750. These grants were made possible thanks to a special gift from one of our Champions Club members.

"During this time of economic uncertainty, The USACF grant is more important than ever. The importance of having healthy goals for Team Swift members and their families is currently one of our main focal points. The Center of Excellence program is making a huge difference to our sport and our communities, not only the youth but to all those who do their part to make this program possible. We look forward to 2020 and beyond." – Laura Charameda, Team Swift

Additionally, the Center of Excellence welcomes Mission Devo Cycling (GA), DC Velo (VA & MD), Team Colorado, Galbraith Gravity Jr. Racing (WA) and Avout Racing (CO) as new Center of Excellence clubs. They join an elite group of teams around the country which specialize in Junior age-group rider development in road, mountain, cyclocross and track disciplines. These not-for-profit clubs adhere to USA Cycling standards for Safe Sport and Coaching, all developing riders with hopes of National Team participation, Collegiate Cycling and to simply be life-long cyclists.
