Andrea Cherniak Tyson

Andrea Cherniak-Tyson is a C4 Paracyclist, the youngest of six siblings born in Canada and raised in Northern Indiana. She has lived across the United States building careers in music, costume, fashion and interior design.

Once a recreationally competitive runner, a catastrophic car accident in her twenties broke nearly every bone in her body and Andrea was told she would never run again. Instead of accepting defeat, she found a new kind of freedom on two wheels - mountain biking in Utah, the very place her accident occurred.

Three decades and three children later, a move to California reignited her love of cycling. She began road racing in able-bodied categories in the highly competitive elite NCNCA region, grabbing over 7 state titles and 3 National podiums.

In 2024, she finally embraced her disabilities and launched her Para-cycling career. In her debut year, she was selected to represent Team USA at UCI Para-cycling World Championships, placing 4th in both C4 events. She went on to podium at the 2025 Para-cycling World Cup with silver in the C4 Time Trial and Bronze in the Road Race. Despite being injured during the Time Trial she took 5th at the 2025 World Championships Road Race. 

Advocacy for equity and representation is a driver for Andrea on and off the tarmac. She hopes to model to anyone who has been told "you can't" to have the audacity to chase their own extraordinary dreams. When not on the bike she enjoys art and music with her partner and children, and snuggling with their dog Zuzu.
