Meet the Athlete

McKee has been involved in cycling for as long as she can remember. Some of her earliest memories are of sitting beside bike races, watching her parents ride together, and feeling drawn to the speed, freedom, and energy of the sport long before she fully understood it. She started racing cyclocross at a young age and eventually found her way into track cycling, where the intensity, precision, and explosiveness of the velodrome immediately felt like home.

Over the years, McKee progressed through multiple disciplines, including cyclocross, mountain biking, road racing, collegiate cycling, and ultimately sprint track cycling, where she has become a 16-time National Champion, a multiple-time Pan American medalist, and a member of the USA Cycling Sprint Program, representing the United States in elite international competition. Her experiences within the sport have included competing alongside some of the top athletes in the world while continuing to pursue long-term goals of competing at the UCI World Championships and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.

Much of McKee's journey as an athlete has also been shaped by living with Type 1 diabetes after being diagnosed at six years old. Learning how to balance elite training, competition, travel, recovery, and everyday life while constantly managing her health has required her to develop resilience, discipline, and adaptability from an early age. Cycling became more than just competition; it became an outlet, a sense of identity, and a way to prove to herself that obstacles do not have to define what someone is capable of achieving.

Today, McKee trains full-time in Los Angeles with Team USA's track cycling sprint program while pursuing her goal of representing the United States at the Olympic Games and using her platform to advocate for people living with diabetes. Beyond results, she hopes her journey will show young athletes and individuals facing adversity that chronic illness does not limit ambition, potential, or the ability to pursue goals at the highest level.
