2020 may not have been what we all had in mind but despite everything, cycling clubs across the country found creative ways to keep their community connected. To highlight these amazing efforts, we are excited to share the (slightly) adjusted 2020 Club of the Year categories:

be the best of 2020

Selection Process
  1. All clubs selected must be a member in good standing with USA Cycling.
  2. The application form can be found here.
  3. Each club may apply for and win only one award.
  4. Clubs may send supporting documentation to pohlmann@usacycling.org in addition to submitting the application.
  5. After Club of the Year applications are received by the due date, the selection committee (consisting of the USA Cycling membership department and event services department) will evaluate applications based on the following:
    membership composition, club activities, community involvement, DE&I efforts and additional questions based on the category that your club selects. The selection committee will choose one winner for:
    1. Best Pivot - This award goes to a club that has exemplified adapting to a challenge or "shaking it up".
    2. New Club of the Year - This award goes to a club formed in 2020 that champions cycling in their community.
    3. Best Club Promotion - This award goes to a club that has done an exceptional job of promoting themselves in their community
    4. Best Junior Program (including Interscholastic) - This award goes to a junior program that champions cycling on and off the bike
    5. Spirit of Cycling - This award goes to a club that champions lifelong passion for cycling and sets the standard for being an ambassador to the sport
    6. Best Collegiate Program (Club and Varsity) - This award is for collegiate programs (club or varsity), that exemplify excellence on and off the bike
    7. Best Community Builder - This award is for a club that has excelled in fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in their club.
  6. Club of the Year winners will be announced on the USA Cycling website and awards will be mailed to club presidents.
  7. Club of the Year category award winners will receive free club renewal for 2021 or 2022.
  8. Winners will be announced on our website by Friday, January 22nd, 2021. All applications and materials must be submitted by Friday, January 15th, 2021. The application will open on December 9th.
