Bike Racing for Kids & Teens

Your cycling journey can begin anywhere you want it to. If your child is 18 years old or younger the steps below will help get your child started with USA Cycling.

Step 1

Buy a membership

In order to race in a USA Cycling sanctioned event, you'll need to purchase your child a JUNIOR RACE or JUNIOR+ membership. Think of it like a VIP membership card that gets them into some of the best races in the United States!

Find a race

You've purchased a membership for your child, now it's time to find a race! With our event finder tool, they'll have endless access to the best races in the country.

Join a club

Now that your child has decided to give racing a try it's important to get in touch with your local cycling club to find out about all the best places to ride. When your junior is first starting out, we encourage them to ride with a group.

INTERSCHOLASTIC RACING AND BEYOND

Do you have experience racing with NICA or other interscholastic racing organizations? Competing at a USA Cycling sanctioned event is an easy addition to your racing repertoire and sets you up for success as you move into collegiate or adult racing. You’ll earn ranking and upgrade points starting with your first race, and you’ll have access to the same development programs that jumpstarted the success of many world and Olympic medalists.
