ABOUT THE NCCCC

The North Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (NCCCC) is a regional division of USA Cycling that fosters collegiate cycling competition and community across the North Central United States. The NCCCC supports student-athletes in road, mountain bike, BMX, track, cyclocross, and gravel racing while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and the growth of collegiate cycling.

UNDERSTANDING COLLEGIATE CYCLING

Understanding how the NCCCC works involves learning about its structure, race events, and how student-athletes from schools across the North Central area compete in various cycling disciplines.

Starting a team involves finding interested students, registering with USA Cycling, and securing school approval.  Every university, community college, and more have the ability to host a Collegiate Cycling Club.  Make sure to bring your bike with you to college! 

The NCCCC can help guide you through the process of starting a cycling club if your school does not already have one, or help connect you to an existing club, check out our resources or contact us for support and to get you rolling!

Varsity teams are school-supported programs with dedicated funding, coaches, and sometimes scholarships, operating more like traditional college sports teams. Club teams on the other hand, are student-run and self-funded, often relying on fundraising and school club sports resources. Both compete in NCCCC races and can qualify for Nationals, but varsity teams generally have more structured training and support.

Riders earn points based on their finishing position in each event that roll up into a "Team Omnium" and "Individual Omnium" value. Higher placements earn more points, and different race categories have different scoring structures. Team points are typically the sum of the top individual finishes from each school. Stage races and conference championships may offer bonus points or "primes".   • Find your school’s team:
    Check our Team Directory or search your school’s website for a cycling club or varsity program. Most teams welcome riders of all skill levels, from beginners to national contenders.
     
  • No team? No problem!
    You can start a new club at your school with just a few riders and some basic support from campus recreation or student life or Club Sports. We’re here to help you get rolling. Please email collegiate@usacycling.org for help getting started! 
     
  • Get your USA Cycling Collegiate License:
    All NCCCC racers need a collegiate license, which you can purchase through USA Cycling’s website. It gives you access to conference races and makes you eligible for Nationals if your team qualifies.
     
  • Join NCCCC races and events:
    Whether it’s road, mountain bike, or cyclocross, the NCCCC hosts competitive and fun events across the Southeast. It’s a great way to stay active, meet fellow riders, and represent your school.
