2024 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships: Public Qualification Pathway Revealed

By: UCI Communications  July 17, 2024

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and MyWhoosh have revealed the process for and key dates of the public qualifiers for the 2024 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships.

The three public qualifiers will be held between 3 and 10 August, following the qualifiers currently being conducted by National Federations, which will conclude on 1st August. The slots for the semi-finals (150 for men and 150 for women) will go to the best of both the National Federations’ qualifiers and the public qualifiers, ensuring everyone has a chance to earn the right to represent their country. The number of semi-final slots available at the public qualifiers will be announced after the conclusion of the National Federations’ qualifiers, but before 2 August.

The public qualifiers will be raced on the MyWhoosh platform and are open to all users who have undergone MyWhoosh’s verification process (the same verification process as for National Federation riders), ensuring a fair and transparent competition.

Each of the public qualifiers will be held in a two-stage format, with a choice of three dates to accommodate riders from different time zones and provide a fair and inclusive selection process. Riders who have not been selected by their National Federation can try their chance at all three public qualifiers but once qualified, cannot enter any more qualifiers.

Public qualifiers schedule (CET time zone)

  • 3 August: Men 18h00, Women 19h00
  • 7 August: Men 14h00, Women 15h00
  • 10 August: Men 19h00, Women 20h00.

The fastest 20 men and 20 women from the semi-finals on 6 September will advance to the final, to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 26 October. All finalists will compete on-site.

More information, including the race format of the public qualifiers, can be found in the event’s Technical Guide, published on the UCI website.

MyWhoosh is the exclusive platform and organiser of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships from 2024 to 2026. It is responsible for organising all stages of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships, developing courses, creating technical guides, and hosting the live finals in Abu Dhabi.
