The Bicycle Instructor Certification Program (BICP) and USA Cycling have expanded their partnership to enhance cycling instruction, safety standards, and educational outreach across the country.
“This collaboration aligns our shared goals of improving cycling education and safety while providing greater access to high-quality training for cycling instructors and coaches,” said Nicole Gerow Executive Director of BICP. “By working together, we can reach more riders and elevate the standards of cycling instruction nationwide.”
Through this collaboration, BICP and USA Cycling will work together to exchange coach certification courses and credentialing systems, broadening training opportunities for members and expanding professional development pathways for cycling instructors and coaches. The organizations will also co-host two web-based coaching sessions annually in collaboration with USA Cycling’s High-Performance staff, providing additional professional development opportunities.
BICP members will receive a free one-year USA Cycling Coaching membership once they complete the USA Cycling Level 3 Certification ($115 value). Additionally, USA Cycling coaches will gain access to the BICP Ride Leader certification course and be encouraged to continue their instructor certifications as BICP’s member at a reduced rate.
“USA Cycling is committed to providing our members with the best resources and opportunities to grow in the sport," said Suzy Sanchez, Director of DEI and Membership. "Partnering with BICP allows us to enhance our educational programs, ensuring that coaches and riders receive top-tier training built on standardized best practices. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to developing a knowledgeable and skilled cycling community at every level.”
This agreement marks a significant step toward enhancing cycling education in the U.S., ensuring that more riders, coaches, and instructors have access to the tools and resources necessary to improve safety, skills, and overall cycling experience.
