Henry Coote Delivers 13th in the U23 Men’s Race at the 2026 Cyclocross World Championships Team
The Junior Women, U23 Men, and Elite Women took on the 2026 UCI Cyclocross World Championships today in Hulst, Netherlands. The sun came out for Saturday’s racing, which dried out the course after the overnight rain. It was still a heavily technical course, with races full of crashes and power.
For the juniors, Aida Linton (Missoula, Mont.; Bear National CX), Kira Mullins (Littleton, Colo.; Bear National CX), Ada Watson (Carrboro, N.C.; CXD / Trek Bikes), Tessa Beebe (Boise, Idaho; Byrds Cycling), and Graden Daume (Missoula, Mont.; Team Stampede/Five Valley Velo) represented Team USA.
It was a hectic start, with a crash on the first flyover catching most of the American women. As they worked to recover, Lintonwas unfortunately caught up in another crash on the opening hill. National Champion Mullins managed to avoid the chaos and put together a solid start with a strong first lap. She rode in a group battling for 16th for much of the race and ultimately finished 18th on the day.

Henry Coote (Manchester, Mass.; Trinity Racing), Ryan Drummond (Moore, Okla.; Comp Edge Racing), and Calvin Conaway (Zionsville, Ind.; Midwest NXT) lined up in the U23 men’s race this morning.
Starting from the third row, Coote had work to do early. He stayed smooth through a challenging start, steadily moving up positions throughout the race, and closed out his season with a 13th-place finish after a sprint from a small group.
“The most important thing was to try and stay strong on the back half of the course.” Coote said. “It’s easy to try and recover, but you really had to stay on the gas in order to keep on the wheels. You really had to slow it down on the descents and take a deep breath, then really pedal hard any chance you could.”
Results:
1. Aaron Dockx (BEL)
2. Aubin Sparfel (FRA)
3. Keije Solen (NED)

Lizzy Gunsalus (Dudley, Mass.; CCB Racing p/b Levine Law Group) and Anna Megale (Boise, Idaho; Comp Edge Racing) took on the final race of the day in the elite women’s category.
The course was noticeably faster than the day before as it continued to dry out. Gunsalus put herself in the mix for 16th within a large group, feeling strong and riding well throughout the race. Despite a crash on the penultimate lap, she pushed on to finish in the top 20 in her first Elite World Championships.

2. Ceylin Alvarado (NED)
3. Puck Pieterse (NED)
